Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
seeks qualified applicant for the position of a Field officer for the Water,
Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Benefits Project.
The Project is a five year study to
evaluate the health benefits of sanitation, hygiene, household water treatment
and nutrition, using a large-scale, randomized evaluation that is taking place
in Western province.
We are currently seeking Field
Officers to focus on the data collection activities of the WASH benefits
project.
The Field Officer will be based in
the Western region, and will be required to travel in the region.
He/she will work closely with fellow
Field Officers and with WASH Benefits data collection management team,
including Research Associates (RA’s), Field Managers and the Associate Field
Managers.
The Field officer will spend
approximately 100% of his/her time in the Field.
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
General
- Prompt arrival to work.
- Completion of scheduled activities each day in
a timely manner.
- Interact with community members with the
highest level of respect and understanding
- On non-field days, conscientious performance
of office work.
- Maintaining high standard of professional
integrity in all activities.
- Successfully complete all tasks assigned by
the WASH Benefits management team.
- Knowledge of assigned tasks and delivery
according to SOP
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Team player - interacts well with colleagues
and offers support in the field and in the office
- Responsible - takes up responsibilities, shows
initiative in solving issues and reports challenges to supervisor.
Project and Data Collection Duties
- Identifying and confirming eligible study
respondents
- Get informed consent from study participants
- Collecting data and samples from respondents
with strict adherence to the SOP
- Ensure proper storage and handling field
equipment such chlorine test kits, tablets, GPS machines etc.
- Serve as team leader: Communicating with local
administration (village elders), mobilizing guides, filling data forms and
uploading data onto the server
- Assist with death confirmation, consent to
intervention delivery, consent verifications and back checks if need be.
- Any other duties assigned by the Field
Manager/Associate field manager
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or a diploma in any relevant
area
- Previous data collection experience desirable
- Previous experience with anthropometry
measurements an added advantage
- Excellent oral and written communication
skills in both English and Kiswahili.
