We are looking for a tech-savvy individual with computer software development skills to join our internship program.
 

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated and passionate for developing digital experiences.  

This internship will provide him/her with the opportunity to gain experience in development of elements of websites and mobile experiences.  

 In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of individuals in Digital Development and Web & Mobile software Development. –   
 

The qualified person should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of mobile app programming, entire software development lifecycle, build process, testing and code release. 

Responsibilities

• Code modules that achieve specific designated tasks 
• Work with location services APIs from Google and Apple 
• Integrate database linking into each module. 
• Defining and developing web service APIs. 
• Integrating with web-based products. 

Eligibility & Requirements 
 

The individual should have:

• Be In possession of his/her own computer/laptop
• Be a recent graduate or at least in final year of study
• Works done to show skills in software development an advantage
• Excellent problem solving skills, 
• Extensive knowledge of either iOS or Android app development. 
• The intern should have learned either Java, Swift, or C++ to aid in app development. Skills Preferred - C++, SWIFT, Java, Android Development, iOS development

NEWS INTERNSHIPS

Primary responsibilities include research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images and footage.
Candidates should be detail-orientated, have strong writing and research skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and have the confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers.

Singtel/ Airtel Accelerator Challenge

Singtel & Airtel, in partnership with Samsung, invite start ups & developers in Africa & Asia to participate in an open challenge to build the next big app to take to market in 2016. The Accelerator Challenge seeks to identify innovative mobile apps and solutions that will touch individual consumers.

Prizes:

• 2 local winners from Africa will participate in the Startup Mentorship Program in October in Singapore.
• All finalists will pitch their apps at the Grand Final in November (country venue to be decided).
• 1 final winner will be selected and announced at the Grand Final in Nov.

Important Deadlines:

All submissions should be in by September 5, 2015
Country-level Winner will be announced on September 15, 2015
Airtel Africa Winner will be announced on September 30, 2015

Criteria for Apps:

All submissions should be consumer-centric mobile apps or solutions that leverage on mobile network services to deliver value, e.g. mobile data, carrier billing, location, SMS, etc.

Example of the desired types of apps:

• Lifestyle – help the individuals in their everyday life. It’s about social, fun, and productivity.
• On-demand Economy – connect the supply and demand; allowing a consumer to buy anything from goods to services
• Health– Enable healthy living by providing easy access to health related resources and tools.
• Smart Living – communicate with surrounding appliances and devices to enhance living.
• Apps must be 80%-90% ready for deployment and should not have been launched yet.

Criteria for Participants:

• Participant must be individuals residing or companies registered in the country where the local competition is being held.
• Participants must provide a live demonstration of their app during the pitch session for the grand finale.
